Choosing a Fly Reel
Choosing the right reel for your fly rig is as important as choosing the right fly rod. Any reel will store the line, but the better models are less likely to fail when you’re reeling in your catch.
Depending on the size of fish you’re after, you’ll have to make a choice between the classic spring and pawl drag system and the newer disc drag system. Fly reel size, and weight also play a role and it’s important to match those with your fly rod to achieve the best possible balance.
