Rigging the Right Fly Leader and Tippet
The best leader and tippet for any given fly fishing situation depends on many different factors. Too big, and you’ll scare the fish. Too small, and they’ll snap your leader.
Either way, you get lots of practice casting, but little else to show for your efforts.
When fly fishing, it’s important to always carry a variety of diameter and length, but more important to know which to use under various conditions. Matching the size of your fly to the size of your tippet will also help you get longer, smoother casts.
